Ellen Mueller IWGA Player of the year

The title for the Indiana Women’s Golf Association Player of the Year was a close race, but Ellen Mueller of Evansville edged out Julia Potter of Granger for the Player of the Year after finishing second to Potter at the IWGA State Am Championship.

Though unable to attend due to college classes, Ellen was recognized at the 2007 Indiana Golf Hall of Fame dinner held at Meridian Hills Country Club.

Ellen began the season by finishing runner-up to Kristi Piepenbrink in the IWGA Match Play Championship at Rock Hollow Golf Club. She fired a 1 over par total at The Legends of Indiana to place third in the Indiana PGA Women’s Open, a event that was won by Future’s Tour member Danah Ford. She capped off her IWGA season with a runner-up performance in the Indiana Women’s Amateur Championship, losing in a playoff to Potter.

On the National scene, Mueller qualified for the 2007 US Women's Amateur held at Crooked Stick and played in the 2007 U.S. Amateur Public Links in Lexington. Ky. and in 2006 she was a quarter Finalist of the USGA Girls' Jr. Championship.

A freshman at University of Oklahoma, Ellen is a “graduate” of the Pepsi Indiana Junior Golf Program where she earned the 2004 Pepsi Indiana Junior Golf Program Mountain Dew Junior Tour Girls Player of the Year honor. She made her college career debut this past September at the Badger Women's Golf Invitational, where she fired rounds of 75 and 73 to tie for second place.
